NaNoWriMo 2021

Up until the beginning of October, I have no idea what I was going to write for NaNoWriMo this year. The Book of Immortality and The Land of Two Moons were both finished. For the first time since 2017, I had to work on something new…and that was a problem. Even though I’d been worldbuilding & outlining Broken Sword for close to half a year, and re-outlining Samael since July, neither of those stories had anything close to a complete outline.

I don’t particularly like writing by the seat of my pants. It was fine when I was young and could jump from thing to thing at a moments notice with no problem at all, but I can’t do that anymore. I need an outline, even if it’s rough.

So for all of October, I’ve been putting all my effort into outlining Samael as much as I can. I’ve had vague notes and ideas scattered here and there for years, so most of the outlining has been putting things in order, eliminating inconsistencies from earlier ideas, and fleshing things out.

I sure hope what I’ve done so far will allow me to reach 50k words.
