Welcome to JayArgall.com!

Finally, after seven years of posting on this blog, I have a custom domain name!

That is literally the whole reason I bought an upgrade. I just wanted the domain name. Also, WordPress sent me an email with a coupon and I figured now is a good of a time as any to use it.

On a more important note, I’ve been thinking about what do to with this blog in 2019 and beyond. I want this website to function as more of a log of my creative works with the occasional writing/comic update post. Quality over quantity.

In the early years of this blog, I wrote about a lot of unrelated stuff and sort of used it as my main form of social media. I’ve been sorting through those posts and deleting the ones that aren’t relevant to…well, anything. There were hundreds of those posts! I also plan on cleaning up tags and categories. Those have been a mess since the beginning and I want to make things easy to find.

That’s how things are going to be from now on – or, at least, until I get bored of it and want to do something else. I also won’t be doing monthly update posts like I did last year. Instead I’ll just make a post whenever I actually have something to say.

That’ll probably be at the end of January/beginning of February when I launch my webcomic. Make sure to keep an eye out for that!

New Year, New URL

I’ve changed my blog address! I was formerly kaedekit.wordpress.com, and now I’m jayargall.wordpress.com. The old URL doesn’t redirect to this one, so if you’re linking to it, it needs to be changed. Sorry about that!

I’ve also changed my blog theme. I honestly got a bit tired of light text on a dark background. This one looks much cleaner than the other one, doesn’t it?

The challenges page has also been updated for 2016.

Also, happy new year! Here’s hoping 2016 is a much better year than 2015.

Liebster Award

I’ve been nominated for the Liebster Award by Bridgett! Thank you so much! The Liebster Award is an award for blogs with less than 1000 followers.

The Rules:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you and link to their blog.
  2. Answer the 11 questions your nominator gave you.
  3. Tag 11 bloggers with less than 1,000 readers.
  4. Think of 11 questions for the bloggers you have nominated.
  5. Let them know you have nominated them through social media or their blog.

Bridgett’s Questions:

1. What music gets you in the mood for writing?

I suppose I’m weird – I don’t usually listen to music when I’m writing! When I do, it tends to be video game soundtracks.

2. In your opinion what is the best thing you’ve written so far?

Hm…I have a problem with not liking most things when I’m finished writing them, but the thing I’m most proud of is Venére Magic. It’s a script I wrote from March to August this year, and I really liked how it turned out!

3. Have you accomplished your goals for 2015?

Some of them. I accomplished my writing goals, but not my reading ones.

4. What is one thing you want to see happen in 2016?

Graduate and get a job. If this is the only thing that happens, I’ll be pretty happy.

I also want to start posting writing on my blog again.

5. What is your favorite book you read this year?

Hm…probably The Martian. I didn’t read very much this year, unfortunately.

6. Coffee or tea?

I’m pretty caffeine intolerant, so neither.

7. Have you visited anywhere exciting in the past year? Where?

Unfortunately, no.

8. What is your favorite thing about blogging/writing?

I like being able to transform the images in my head into words.

9. What would you do if you won a million dollars?

Get proper testing/treatment for all of my myriad medical conditions. Also, buy a house and a ton of books.

10. What book would you like to see made into a movie?

One of my own? I think that’d be great.

11. What is your current favorite TV show?

Currently, it’s The Expanse.

I Tag…

  1. Danielle, at Musings of Danielle
  2. Sarah, at The world of Sarah Lou

Unfortunately, I don’t know very many bloggers (I should probably fix this in 2016), so I can’t tag 11 people. 😦

My Questions

  1. What do you like to write? What specific genre?
  2. What are your writing goals for 2016?
  3. What kind of thing do you find yourself doing when you procrastinate on writing?
  4. Do you talk to other writers about writing at all or no?
  5. Does reading a book/watching a movie inspire you to write? Does the genre matter?
  6. If you create fictional worlds for your writing, how in-depth do you go with worldbuilding?
  7. What do you plan on doing with your writing? Published writer, etc?
  8. When did you start writing (what age)?
  9. Related to the above, when did you decide that “writer” was something you wanted to be?
  10. What hobbies do you have that are unrelated to writing?
  11. Do you have any hobbies that don’t seem related to writing, but have ended up being applicable?
